What's Included

Approach
In this masterclass, I take you behind the scenes as I build light step-by-step. From using ambient light and chandeliers to my own portable inventions, you’ll learn how to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary images.

Thane Portrait
First up, I demonstrate how to build a layered lighting setup—starting with a main light, then adding an edge light, and finally a background light.

Working with Masha
I show you how to craft a rich, layered look using just one portable light and existing lights in the enviornment. I break down each step of the setup, showing how subtle shifts in light placement can dramatically change the mood and dimension of the image.

Beveled-edge Portrait
In this lesson, I walk you through the process of composing with reflections, controlling light to emphasize facial features, and selectively illuminating the ornate gold frame to add visual depth and elegance.

Creative Couple Portrait
You'll learn how to build a layered couple portrait without losing the strength of the original solo pose. This lesson is as much about light as it is about knowing when to simplify.

Thane Reflections
Using two lights (a key and an edge), plus a striking split lighting variation, I create bold, sculpted portraits full of tension and mood. As the session unfolds, I make a spontaneous discovery: a clean triple reflection that adds depth and complexity to the frame.

Shooting through Crystals
We switch things up by photographing Masha through the crystals of a chandelier—adding rich texture, bokeh, and atmosphere to the frame. You’ll learn how to shoot through foreground elements, embrace optical surprises, and turn a simple setup into something truly cinematic.

Posing Marsha
I walk you through how to pose the female form in harmony with the light—using a dramatic chair setup to accentuate curves with intention and grace.Â

Close-up Portrait
Discover how to finesse details within a small composition and how small adjustments in pose and styling can dramatically elevate a portrait’s impact.

Shoot-thru Reflector
In this lesson, I take a fresh approach to lighting by using an Ice Light 3 and the shoot-through Omega Reflector. You’ll learn how to use bounced light creatively to sculpt the face and create a bold, dimensional look.Â

Mirror Portrait
We begin this shoot with available light from a mirror to create a soft, natural glow—then replicate the look using a portable light for greater control and consistency.Â

Kitchen Lights
In the final lesson, I demonstrate how to elevate a simple space with smart lighting and thoughtful composition—first with a tight, centred crop, then with the use of negative space for a more editorial feel.
